BALTIMORE, MD – September 30, 2009 – Better Business Bureau | Greater Maryland recently named its 2009 leadership team. AT&T Director of Sales, Larry Taylor will serve as the Chairman of the Board. Other newly elected officers include BBB Treasurer, Keith F. Novak, partner, Clifton Gunderson and Past Chairman, Mike Smith, senior vice president, PNC Bank.
“Trust in business, from ads on billboards, television and radio, to stories in the news and tweets on Twitter, has never been more relevant, more desired or more talked about,” said Angie Barnett, President and CEO of Better Business Bureau | Greater Maryland. As BBB Chairman, Larry Taylor will guide our leadership in concert with our standards to foster marketplace trust and denounce substandard behavior.
By day, Taylor is director of sales for AT&T in Maryland, overseeing more than 38 company-owned wireless retail stores in the state. Taylor has served as a board member including terms as Vice President and Treasurer for BBB since 2006.
The new leadership team officially began its tenure on Sept. 23 during BBB | Greater Maryland’s Torch Awards for Marketplace Excellence, a yearly event which recognizes local businesses that embody a commitment to conduct ethical business practices toward customers, employees, shareholders and their community. This year’s winners include Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing of Maryland, Inc., Next Day Blinds, Post & Beam Design\Build, Soft Touch Photography by Cynthia and Turf Valley Resort.
Taylor takes over for Michael T. Smith, Senior Vice President for PNC Bank, who held the position since September 2007.

Taylor lives in Ellicott City, Md., with his wife and three kids, where he is an active member of the community. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Vincent College and a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University.
